I’d like to think of us as a whole thing, acting in the interests of our constituent parts for the benefit of all. Here’s why I’ve been thinking about this...
This week has been very tough. There has been a mountain of things to do, especially around publicity.
This is Deborah’s area of expertise and she has been uncharacteristically ill, taken to her bed, laid low by flu. She was going to mastermind the leaflet drop but at last minute, I had to step in.
How could we deliver 1,000 leaflets over the weekend? Between us we made contact with various friends and contacts locally and within 24 hours had assembled 15 people to form our ‘body’ of volunteers. On Friday the leaflets were printed (thanks to Stig at Greenprint who was unstinting in his volunteer time to this) and distributed to all 15 of our street volunteers.
Thanks to you all for taking this on in your busy lives. And then it’s over to the readers of said leaflets to visit our website and show their support here and donate here.
One of the things St Mary and St John PCC is keen on is consultation with the community during the planning phase. Of course we at Homes for Oxford and the Land Trust would very much want to do that anyway.
But it seems to me that one of the things that makes our bid stand out will be the involvement of the community in all sorts of ways, including this leaflet drop.
There are lots of other ways people have already helped as well, doing research, providing us with information, and photographs.
So thank you everyone, for all your efforts.
